Mini Football ground getting ready at Suryanagar

As promised, mini football ground (opp Leo Park, Suryanagar), is being done by the Panch Shri Santosh Desai. S. J. Constructions, Pillai supplied 50 trucks of mud, JCB, road roller, personnel and other equipment. More work has to be done but a great start has been made.

'AWDG' - Animal Welfare Donors Group

'AWDG' - Animal Welfare Donors Group was formed today. The group members are:
1. Suresh Gurav 2. Dr. Sandhya Bhandari 3. Surendra Naik 4. Sharmila Samant 5. Balchandra (Uday) Desai 6. Prof. Viraj Govind Mahatme 7. Sikaander Darrwaikar 8. Avinash Tulaskar 9. Valmiki Nayak 10. Santosh Desai 11. Rudrayya Acharia 12. Tony Johnson 13. Gurunath Kesurker and, 14. M.R. Naik

The current objective is to fund animal care activist Stephen Johnson. If more members join this group, they will also fund others who are active in animal welfare. Animal welfare is at the heart of this initiative.

Holi 2023 celebrations

For a child there's no greater joy than having the entire tub of colored water to himself.

Holi 2023 celebrations were held with great gusto at the residence of the Panch Shri Santosh Desai.

Re-Survey of M.E.S College road.

The M.E.S College road is full of encroachments. The road has become smaller causing traffic congestions. Despite appeals to the shop owners, nothing happened. The Residents were fed-up. So, yesterday the Panch Shri Santosh Desai, govt. surveyor, govt engineer and Sancoale Panchayat Secretary came and we conducted an official re-survey of the M.E.S. College road and all properties lining it. This was witnessed by the shop owners and residents. Now we will have an official report on all encroachments that have taken place. As per procedure, action will follow.

There was a huge response to the FREE Homeopathic camp conducted by Homeopathic medical Association of India and Fit Mission Goa at the office of the Panch Shri Santosh Desai.

Inauguration of park at Aman Colony.

The newly developed park at Aman colony was inaugurated yesterday by the Panch Shri Santosh Desai. It's development happened thanks to his efforts and financial and material contributions by the following:

1. Shabbir Hussian Rs 16,000
2. Ashraf Ali Gazala Rs 10,000
3. Shadab Jakati Rs 10,000
4. Anwar Sulekeri Rs 9,000
5. Rafik Shaikh Rs 7,000

The following contributed Rs 5,000 each:
Kutubuddin Sangolli, Tabassum Shaikh, Sachin Devarshi, Shiraj Shaikh, Mohidin Makandar, Shafi Abdul Afiz, Susheel Parkh, Devenrda Naik and Javed Shaikh.
Ashok Ghorpade and Bashir both contributed Rs 4,000 each. Yakub Rehmatullah, Mustafa Ngarchi, Nazru, Basha and John Fernandes contributed Rs 3,000 each. Shamshuddin Khan donated Rs 2,500 while Prakash Naik donated Rs 2,000
The following contributed Rs 1,000 each:
Megha Fal Desai, Mushtak Khan, Arjun Kamanache and Pandurang Nerurkar.
The total cash collected thus far was Rs 128,500/- Of this, Rs 127,300 was spent on equipment (83%), electricals, cleaning, labor hire and painting leaving a small balance of Rs 1,200/-

Medical camp for women at Bharatnagar colony of Vidyanagar.

The Association organized a medical camp for ladies in Bharatnagar Community Hall. The doctors were from Cortalim PHC. The Chief Guest was the MLA of Cortalim constituency Shri Antonio Vaz. Our Panch Shri Santosh Desai, Shri A.K. Das, Dr. Bhaskar and Dr. Pranjali were honored with a shawl and a plant. The program was conducted by association president Shri Monesh Meti.

Cortalim, Goa MLA Shri Antonio Vaz promises to approve project for Ward 1, Sancoale village.


Speaking during the inauguration of the medical camp for ladies at Bharat colony today, our MLA bab Antonio Vaz promises to get approved any project for ward no 1 upto value of Rs 25 Lakhs from MLA funds itself. This will speed up the process for any small projects we have.

Development of open space at Aman Colony

The Panch and association members including Monesh Meti, Valmiki Nayak, Abdul bhai, Abdul Karim bhai, Anwar bhai and Rafick bhai had productive discussions with Avez Azim Shaikh (second from left), on development of the open space in Aman Colony. Avez bhai is Director of Mohidin Properties LLP and has agreed to take up leveling of the open space in Aman colony. In him, Philanthropy is alive and well. Our heartfelt thanks to him.

Inauguration of Computer literacy classes for housewives.

FREE Computer classes for housewives was inaugurated at M.E.S College under the social outreach program of the college. It was inaugurated by our Panch Shri Santosh Desai and the college principal Dr (Mrs) Manasvi Kamat. The program was organized by Dept. Of Information Technology in association with IQAC and conducted by professor Sandeep Kadam.

Inauguration of Konkani Speaking Classes.

The Panch Shri Santosh Desai organized and inaugurated the Konkani Speaking classes for non-Goans. There are many who have settled in Goa but don't speak the local language. The Konkani Speaking classes were meant to help integrate them into the Goan society. Hats off to the students most of whom are senior citizens for coming forward and willing to make the effort.

Contractor equipment confiscated.

The Panch Shri Santosh Desai found a contractor busy digging up a road that had just been repaired and cleared. The contractor had no authorization or permissions. The Panch lodged a complaint and the police confiscated the equipment which was later released after the contractor promised to produce the necessary documents as well as repair the damaged road.

Konkani speaking classes.

Many new residents in ward # 1 had contacted the Panch Shri Santosh Desai on their desire to learn Konkani. He intends to arrange a 2-hour, once-a-week Konkani speaking classes at Airway Public school. Start date, timing etc. will be decided in consultation with the participants.

FREE Computer literacy classes for housewives.

FREE computer literacy training for housewives. Classes will be held at M.E.S College for one week, 2 hours a day in the evening from 5th to 8th December 2022.
Topics:
1. Computer Basics
2. Microsoft Word
3. Microsoft Excel
4. Basics of internet (how to shop online)
5. How to use mobile phone apps
6. Introduction to govt. schemes for ladies/ family

Participants will learn how to fill forms and submit applications online, shop online, obtain information online, update voter card, Aadhar card etc. Certificate will be provided at end of course.

The Panch, bab Santosh Desai is coordinating this initiative.

All gardens cleared of weeds.

Since the Panchayat does not do deweeding of gardens, the Panch got the job done at his own expense. All gardens in Vidyanagar are now clear of weeds.

Gutter inspection

Nobody likes gutters but they are the most important part of any community. Good gutters = quick and proper drainage and prevents flooding. Today the Panch inspected the ongoing work on gutters in Vidyanagar. He also inspected all the other gutters. He noted that some areas had no gutters. Over the years some gutters were buried in mud. He has decided to take a fresh look at all the gutters in Vidyanagar.

Road digging halted.

Road digging at entrance to Bharat Nagar Colony was halted when the Panch Shri Santosh Desai found that the contractor did not have any documents. He said he was fed up of contractors digging up anywhere and and leaving behind a mess. Today two such contractors who did not have any documents were stopped. The Panch said he intended to hold these contractors accountable for the damage and mess they create.
