FREE BREAST SCREENING & TREATMENT CAMP 15 Oct 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Yuvraj Singh Foundation, SBI Foundation, and Government of Goa has organized a screening camp at Vida Clinics, Zorint, Zuarinagar, Sancoale.
The screening is conducted through a technology called iBE Device. This technology is safe, free from radiation, painless and non-invasive as well. All ladies are requested to please avail of this opportunity

FREE Medical Camp with Medicines

As part of the M.E.S. college Golden Jubilee celebrations, the Panch Shri Santosh Desai inaugurated their multi-specialty health check-up camp. Free medical consultation along with free medicines was provided to college staff, students and residents of my ward. The medical camp was organized in association with National Polyclinic (Vidyanagar), 'We care' pharmacy, 'Noble Health Lab' and College NSS group. The doctors providing free consultation were: Dr. Lameez Khan (Gynec), Dr. Nehal - Rehab, Dr. Akashdeep - Respiratory, Dr. Navneet Kaur - Dental and Dr. Ana Pereira - Skin specialist

Inauguration of flood control drain at Bharat Nagar Colony.

Every monsoon, the house of Balchandra Naik (retired Ex-MPT), used to get flooded. Two earlier attempts to rectify the problem was made but with little success. This time, under leadership of Dy. Sarpanch Shri Girish Pillai, a third attempt is being made after proper study and planning by engineers. Today the work was inaugurated at the hands of Shri Girish Pillai in the presence of current Panch Shri Santosh Desai and residents of Vidyanagar.

Inauguration of drain rectification project initiated at Railway colony.

In his first act as Panch of Ward # 1, a long pending demand from Railway colony residents to rectify existing rainwater drainage was undertaken. In his speech, bab Santosh Desai thanked Dy. Sarpanch Shri Girish Pillai ji for his full support for this project.

Navratri celebrations Vidyanagar.

Navratri celebrations were held in grand style by ladies from Vidyanagar. It was held in the open space in Park Street Colony.

M.E.S College basket ball court cleaned.

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, members of the Vidyanagar Yoga group, cleaned up the M.E.S College basket ball court. This is also the location where the Yoga is held.

Cleanliness drive: Letter issued to shopkeepers.

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, a cleanliness drive was conducted during which a letter was also issued to all the shopkeepers requesting them to keep their setback area clean and also prevent traffic congestion by helping customers park properly.

Cortalim MLA Shri Antonio Vaz Visits Vidyanagar.

The association thanks our MLA Shri Antonio Vaz for taking the time and trouble to visit Ward # 1 today morning and familiarize himself with various issues and hardships faced by the residents of my ward. With his gracious support and that of our Panch, we are sure, most of our problems will be solved.

Traffic congestion on the M.E.S College road.

A corner meeting was held by the residents with the newly elected Panch. The meeting was held at the entrance to Bharatnagar colony and the topic was traffic congestion on the M.E.S College road.

Bharatnagar colony celebrated independence day in grand style by inviting Professor (retired) R.B. Patil as Chief Guest and Shri Girish Pillai and Shri Santosh Desai of Sancoale Panchayat as Guests of honor.

Vidyanagar Yoga Group celebrated independence day.

It was 7 a.m. and Vidyanagar Yoga Group was the 1st to celebrate the independence day. During the celebrations they felicitate Shri Santosh Desai, Panch of Ward # 1. It may be recalled that it was Shri Santosh Desai who as then President of Vidyanagar Association had initiated the Yoga group.

Association ex-President wins Panchayat elections from Ward I, Sancoale Panchayat

Four Candidates were in the running:
1. Santosh Desai - secured 653 votes
2. Arish Kadar - secured 419 votes
3. Ganesh Lamani - secured 231 votes.
4. Sagar Desai - secured 110 votes.

Stephen Johnson baby sits 22 Rock Python eggs - 17 hatch successfully.


Johnson rescued a python from a gutter along the Vasco-Cortalim highway. Next day, while still in the gunny bag, he found it had laid 22 eggs. But after a week the mother python tried to escape and so he released it into the wild. Meanwhile, he played surrogate mom and eventually (after 54 days), 17 healthy baby rock pythons were born. The next all 17 baby pythons averaging 30 cm each were released into the wild with a hope that at least some will survive.

A year back Johnson was awarded with the title "Champion of Vidyanagar" by the association. Earlier this year, the Goa government too officially recognized his contribution to nature.

Chocked pipeline located and cleaned.

For several days residents of Sidharth colony were suffering from extreme low water pressure. Santosh Desai got in touch with the PWD officials. After two days of searching, they finally located the chocked pipeline and cleaned it.
